Microsoft Account Migration — Do I Still Need Mojang Login?
Mojang accounts were fully migrated to Microsoft accounts, and the old Mojang login is gone for good. Here's what changed, whether your purchases carried over, and how to sign in now.
The migration is complete
Mojang accounts were moved to Microsoft accounts over a multi-year process that ended in 2022. If you hadn't migrated by the deadline, your account was deleted — there's no way to recover a pre-migration Mojang login. You now always sign in with a Microsoft account.
Do you still need a Mojang login?
No. The Mojang email/password no longer works anywhere. The launcher, the website, and every multiplayer server authenticate through your Microsoft account now. If you see “use Mojang account” anywhere, it's outdated information.
Did your purchases carry over?
Yes — migration preserved your owned game, skins, and worlds. You just access them through the Microsoft sign-in. If you bought Java before the cutoff and never migrated, though, that license is unfortunately lost.
Why this matters for joining servers
A valid Microsoft account is what lets you join secured servers and avoid the “Invalid Session” error. Pick a server from our live list and you're set.
