ArcticMC operates as a dedicated Ultra Hardcore network spanning both European and North American player bases, built around the tension of permadeath competition and arena combat. The server runs on Spigot with custom plugins tailored to its competitive ecosystem.

The network centers on multiple UHC variants that test survival instincts under pressure:
- Hosted UHCs — organized matches where players scavenge, craft, and fight until one remains
- UHC Meetup — a format where all players gather at world center after a set time, forcing direct confrontation
- Speed UHC — accelerated matches with faster border shrinkage and resource scarcity
- Arena PvP — structured combat zones for players to test builds and strategies outside of UHC contexts
